Skegness Pride in Place Plan Strongly Endorsed by Government
The Pride in Place plan for Skegness – which sets out a vision and priorities for the delivery of multi-million pound government funding over the
We want our great town to thrive, now and long into the future.
With millions of pounds of government Pride in Place funding, we have the chance to make improvements that local people want to see, that will benefit us all, and that will make Skegness an even better place to be.
Through Pride in Place Skegness is receiving up to £20 million of funding and support over the next ten years, starting from April 2026.
We’ve created a plan that includes a ten-year ambition and key themes for the first four years for this funding. This plan has been directly shaped by feedback from local people.
Between May 2024 and November 2025, we had over 1,500 different pieces of feedback and many more informal conversations. The feedback from this work has led us to an ambition for Skegness as:
A place that works for its residents all year round.
You can read the plan in full here.
Now we’re getting started on delivering this plan, all the time working together – with local people and partners – for Skegness.
The plan and the funding are overseen by Skegness Neighbourhood Board which brings together representatives from the public and private sector. Members include the local MP, local councillors, and people from businesses and organisations in the town.
We need your views. Tell us your ideas for Skegness around these themes…
We’ve been asking for people’s views and collecting ideas from the public since 2024 and to date we have had we had over 1,500 different pieces of feedback and many more informal conversations. This feedback has been shared in a whole range of ways including in 1-2-1 conversations, on postcards at events such as the East Lincs Expo, on feedback leaflets, in interview sessions in the town, and in surveys including one carried out on behalf of the government. Our consultation has revealed some key things that local people want for Skegness:
Beautiful coastline and accessible clean beach.
The sea and the large beaches quiet in the winter but in summer, Skegness comes alive like a theatre. The Tourist trade is buzzing.
It could be cleaner, more attractive and improved public areas
The streets need cleaning and some flowers would be nice.
Better public transport links. Rail link to Lincoln, London. Later public transport buses and trains as last ones at 6/7 pm means no nights out.”
Coastal location, clean beaches, compact (most within walking distance).
The roads are in a terrible state of disrepair, but the pavements are in a disgraceful state.
Improve the way it looks - tidy it up.
Sort out the seating that is full of sand and weeds.
Larger chain shops in the town, so I don’t have to travel an hour to get to them.”
